Exactly how we rank
  • A venue qualifies with at least 10 ratings in 12 months, a photo, and no closure next week.
  • The order is a Bayesian average: (n × the venue's average + 50 × 4.96) / (n + 50), where n is the number of ratings and 4.96 is the average of every venue in the category and city. A handful of 5-star ratings can't beat hundreds of great ones. Ties go to more ratings in the last 90 days.
  • A chain places at most 2 venues in one ranking.
  • 32 venues qualify this week. With 20 or more we show the top 10, with 10 or more the top 5.
